One of our areas of specialization is R&D for building, civil engineering and large infrastructures, which are industries with very specific needs and to which Chatu Tech provides profitable innovative solutions with high added value.
Structures
One of our lines of research focuses on the development of new sensors without batteries, with wireless reading devices, for complex applications. It is possible to detect environmental and structural parameters through hidden sensors that require minimal or even no maintenance. Our R & D effort in these applications is aimed at providing reliability, endurance and easy implementation, along with the presentation of useful information.
This line includes the research and development program that Chatu Tech carries out in conjunction with Smart Engineering for the development of various projects and which has recently led to a new integrated system for traceability and monitoring of physicochemical parameters through chips with RFID technology, applicable to concrete elements.
Detection of pipes
Our engineers are working on a system to improve the location of underground pipelines in a precise manner, which includes not only geolocation but also provides other information of interest. The solution comprises a software platform in BIM technology that processes all the received data and provides a graphic representation of the results.

Wireless power transmission
Providing electrical power to the devices, without wires or contacts, facilitates the interconnection of systems. This method allows a faster installation, reduces the degradation of the connectors and lengthens the life of the devices. Its range of applications is growing. Detection with wireless devices and power transmission WITHOUT a battery are cleaner and easier to deploy solutions.

Sensorika Lab Innovation is an EBT (Innovative Technology-Based Company) created by researchers from the Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja (IETcc-CSIC) belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and Chatu Tech S.L.
Sensorika’s mission is to offer a comprehensive service for the assessment of the durability of structures and to provide advice for proactive intervention and maintenance, which allows a global approach to structural safety in civil engineering projects and buildings.

Monsec: Monitoring Sensors for Concrete
Financed by the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI) through the NEOTEC program in the 2017 call, awarded to the Chatu Tech project with identification EXP-00104846 / SNEO-20171277.
The Chatu Tech business plan is based on the development of sensor technologies for infrastructures, aimed at monitoring the concrete setting process during the construction phase of any type of work and especially in civil works, providing key parameters such as temperature, humidity and compressive strength. The monitoring is carried out by ultra-low consumption radio sensors, which operate in any environmental condition and which by intelligent algorithms advance setting parameters of great utility for construction companies, allowing savings in both work time and costs, increasing safety and reducing waste.
Detection and identification of pipes and ditches using RFID technology in the UHF band (DETECT-TUBE)
Project funded by: ERDF / Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities – State Research Agency / Project (RTC-2017-6339-7).
The research activity carried out by Chatu Tech in the field of pipe detection has led to a new project in collaboration with the UAB CIMITEC research team for the development of a prototype of a new system for the location and identification of trenches and pipes. The aim of this system is to facilitate the recognition of the layout of the pipes and obtain relevant information about them in the companies of the civil works and building sector.
Development of new coatings and encapsulations for sensors and measuring equipment with optimal performance
Project developed with the support of the Agency for Business Competitiveness-ACCIÓ – Generalitat de Catalunya (Exp. BOIND19-1-0151).

Chatu Tech has developed a project aimed at obtaining new coatings and encapsulations for sensors and measuring equipment with optimal performance that has had the support of the Agency for the Competitiveness of the Company-ACTION, of the Generalitat de Catalunya through the Industry 4.0 Coupons (file number BOIND19-1-0151), and with the collaboration of the Leitat Technological Center of Excellence.
This development will make it easier for Chatu Tech to introduce and expand the Trenchip and Monsec technology products in new markets.
